The aim of my research is to find the main determinates of a successful inter-firm collaboration in telecommunication market in Australia and China. The telecommunication market is one of the most rapid developing and most dynamic markets in the world. My research focuses on the Australian and Chinese telecommunication markets - the motives, benefits, types, and key determinants for successful collaboration based on real business collaborating cases.
Face to face interviews and online quantitative research was conducted during 2008 to 2010 in both Australia and China. The empirical results will provide useful information for firms, associations and government departments
aswell as for further research.
The results for the qualitative study are published in two papers:
• “Choosing Business Collaborators Using Computing Intelligence Methods”, Yu Zhang, Shengbo Guo, Jun Hu and Ann Hodgkinson (2008), Proceedings of the 4th international conference on Intelligent Computing: Advanced Intelligent Computing Theories and Applications – with Aspects of Theoretical and Methodological Issues, pp 529-535.
• “Inter-firm Collaboration in Chinese Telecom Market”, Yu Zhang, Ann Hodgkinson, Charles Harvie (2009), 5th SMES in a Global Economy Conference in Beijing in December, 2009.
Other results included:
Both Australia and China have experienced high growth in telecom market. The types, motives and benefits of inter-firm collaboration are very similar in both telecom markets. Trust is believed to play an important role as one of the most important elements to the successful collaboration. Further research will focus on the real determinants of a successful inter-firm collaboration. Thanks.
